In preparation for our class video in New Media Development, Rick split our class into two groups. One was to create a script and the other a story board. I was in the group of script writing. It was a very interesting process. At first I had no idea what type of questions we should ask. But looking at our inspiration videos also gave me inspiration. Because we knew this was a serious video, I tried to think what type of questions I would ask someone to better understand what they went through. The biggest challenge was to create questions that had to be answered by something more than a yes or no while also being broad enough depending on who the person was. We had a small list of potential interviewees and some were spouses, others a father, and another a son. We set up specific questions that could also be changed to fit the others.
We also had to create a short script of questions for Chantel to explain what her project meant to her. Questions about her book and the purpose of the video. This was difficult in another way because while I had an understanding of what she wanted, we also needed a certain amount of emotion to it as well. It shouldn’t sound like a plea but just a call for action. We made it through however and have a good working script to get us all started.
