The marketing department recently had a request to help design a cover for a Student Resource guide at Southeast Tech. Nothing too hard. Some simple graphics that would make it more inviting and encourage students to flip through. What I didn’t expect was to have to work on the design in Microsoft Word.
It’s strange how much I had to re-familiarize myself with Word. I have used that software throughout high school and at Concordia College. But after working in InDesign and going back to Word, I felt spoiled by InDesign. If this was something I could do on there, it would be down in no time! Instead, I had to create something that they could use and add onto later with Microsoft Word. So I went through the file, creating page breaks, and trying to remember how certain things work. In the end, I got a good outcome and it wasn’t too difficult. I’m glad that I had this to remind myself that not everyone is going to have InDesign and sometimes I’ll need to find something on Word. But I was definitely happy to go back to my own software after it was done.
