The first day of school can bring about a lot of feelings, such as excitement or nerves. It can be especially thrilling when it is believed to be the last first day before a graduation. I have had a few of those now, between high school and college at Concordia. It is exciting because it is the final year before stepping out into the world and showing off what I have learned. It is nerve-wracking for the exact same reasons. That’s the beauty of life. It is ever changing and though sometimes I wish I could hit the pause button, time keeps moving forward.
As I start off the school year after my 25th birthday, a lot of memories start to flood back. As I started to look going back to school, I wondered what I should do. I looked into teaching or child care development but I felt like that didn’t fit me. I wanted something where I can still be creative as I was in theatre. So, I looked into interior decorating to match my skills in set design. I couldn’t imagine a future that I wanted in that. Finally I looked at graphic design. There are so many possibilities out there, I could explore what I wanted through my education. Since it was a two-year program, I can learn what I wanted and join the work force.
I have a lot of hope for the future. I hope that one day, I can bring people together in search of a goal. To be able to tell visual stories and interest people in things they had never thought about before. I hope that someday, I can make a difference.
Until then, I have some homework to do.
Stay creative!
