This past Wednesday I had the opportunity to experience the South Dakota Advertising Federation Student Day. I was able to meet with several people in the advertising community here in Sioux Falls. I could get a small glimpse of what my career could look like outside of college. I meet people from companies like Lemonly, Prairie Berry, Key Media Solutions, Click Rain, Midco, and Studio Blu among others. We could ask different questions and hear their answers.
I also attended a workshop about how to best create my cover letter and resume. It always good to do research on the company you are interviewing for. It’s not a good idea to just use a cookie cutter resume. It won’t be personal enough for them and they might just toss it out. Adding an objective is a good idea as well because then they know what you are aiming for and how you want to grow. It’s also a good idea to create a thank you note for when a company interviews you. It’s just a small way to give appreciation for them taking time to give an interview.
